The Weather…

This morning I was driving up to the Lake District again, as I now do on Sunday mornings…

I wasn’t sure whether I’d actually get there today, because there had been quite a lot of snow there on Friday.

So I rang one of the church members there before I set off and was told that the 15 cm of snow that had been covering streets and houses since Friday had melted. Totally! Incredible!

As I was driving, the only remnants of the snow (which had caused major traffic disruptions on Friday!) were some white spots on hills and at the side of the roads, and… :

… lots of stranded abandoned cars.
It was a bit like driving through a ghost-town! Weird!

The force of nature had certainly left its traces. I was reminded once more of how unpredictable our world can be.
Though the organised German in me wants to make lots of plans for life, unexpected events can change things in remarkable ways.

I learnt a while ago, that life is a lot more exciting and fulfilling if we go with the flow, if we abandon our plans and let life take us by surprise. I learnt that God thinks outside the box we want to stuff him into. I learnt that I can feel His presence in the unexpected twists and turns of life.
And, most of all, I learnt that I need to trust God in all I do and on all my ways.
Whatever happens around me, I know God is with me and He will give me strength.
